Torbjørn Ødegaard

Torbjørn Ødegaard is a researcher, non-fiction author, and publisher, as well as an accomplished international network builder and archival researcher. As the Founding Director and Academic Director of SINAS Norway, a network he created after visiting Algiers in 2004, he has established and led a distinguished platform dedicated to advancing research on the historical connections between Scandinavia and North Africa. His work encompasses documentary production, scholarly publishing, and extensive archival investigation, with a particular emphasis on uncovering, preserving, and disseminating overlooked historical narratives of significance.

Programmes and Projects Lead, Head Translator

Soumaya Hedhili

Soumaya Hedhili serves as Programmes and Projects Lead at SINAS Norway, leading the design and implementation of key project initiatives and programmes. She develops projects that extend beyond archival research into broader public and scholarly arenas through translation, curated events, and panel discussions.

With a Nordic and North African background, she brings a strong cross-cultural perspective, supported by experience translating literary, media, and research materials, as well as contributing to cultural initiatives. She holds a Master’s degree in British and American Literature from the University of Oslo, with additional focus on MENA studies. As Head Translator, she ensures accuracy and fidelity across languages.
